Rebecca Harris - Percussion Educator, Composer, Arranger & Performer

Percussionist Rebecca Harris started her endeavors in music at the age of 5 on the piano. Completing five and a half years of studying piano, she then moved on to percussion. She began percussion lessons studying drumset with Randy Crouch and later studied percussion with Bobby Blum. Rebecca had many accomplishments in grade school such as receiving superior ratings on the solos and ensembles she performed, being the first freshman female to make it into the Brevard All-County Band and All-County Orchestra as well as making it in other years, and she was given many leadership roles both in Marching band and Concert band.

She received a full music scholarship to study percussion in the Music Program at Florida Southern College in Lakeland, Florida, where she continued her study in percussion under Dr. Dave Coash and held 2nd Chair as a freshman and Principle Player following that. It was at FSC where she concentrated on her study of four-mallet marimba performing as well as her timpani study in a full orchestral setting.

In 2007 Rebecca moved back to Brevard where she lives with her husband, Greg, and began her work as a Private Lessons Teacher and Percussion Educator. She is a Percussion Instructor at local Junior and Senior High Schools such as Merritt Island High, Rockledge High, Jefferson Middle and Central Middle to name a few. She is also a clinician at other Brevard schools.

Missing the performing world of music, Rebecca began performing for Central Florida Winds in May 2009.
