Ron Vogelsong received his B.A. in Music Performance on Bass Trombone from the University of South Florida in 1978. He then went on to get a BSEE, MSEE, and eventually a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering there in 1985. He continued at USF for five years as a professor of EE before moving to Palm Bay and working for Harris Semiconductor. Since 2001, he's been working for Cadence Design Systems, an Electrical Design Automation software company.

On the lighter side, Ron spent the 15 years in the Tampa area playing bass trombone for all manner of shows on Florida's west coast, as well as performing with the Melody-Booth Orchestra, a 20 piece big band. Since moving to Palm Bay, he has been performing with and arranging for various ensembles at Melbourne First Baptist Church, including the church orchestra, praise team, brass ensembles, gospel quartet, and handbell choir. He also performs regularly with the Central Florida Winds and Oh Golly Dixieland Band. Ron's pieces for handbells are regularly published in LifeWay's Handbells magazine.

Ron lives in Palm Bay with his wife Jean and two cats, Tiger and Sabrina.
