Derek McLean started playing with the Central Florida Winds in the fall of 2001. He is also joined in the CFW with his two talented brothers, Daniel on french horn and Devin in the percussion section. Mr. McLean began his trombone studies at Madison Middle School with his band director William H. Yoh Jr. and continued studying with teachers such as Ron Youmans, Dr. John Drew, Tom Waid, Ian Schwint, and Dale Moore. As a high school student at Astronaut High he performed with many groups such as the All-State, Tri-State, and All-County Band and Orchestras. He was also prinicipal trombonist for the Brevard Youth Symphony Orchestra back in 1999-2000 season.
In his spare time he enjoys watching movies, listening to music and just lounging with his friends. Derek is also a member of the Epsilon Iota chapter of Phi Mu Alpha. |
