My name is Marti Upton and I play the oboe. I began playing in 5th grade after a woodwind quintet visited my elementary school and played for us. In 1992 I graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Arts degree, music major.
Since then I have maintained an oboe studio in Fairfax, Virginia and Melbourne, Florida, served as double reed adjudicator for the Florida All-State Band and Brevard All-County Band, coached small ensembles and sectionals throughout Brevard and Indian River Counties, and taught music summer camp at the University of Florida and Gifford Middle School in Vero Beach, Florida.
My performance experience spans fifteen years and includes orchestras, wind ensembles and bands, chamber groups, operas, vocal accompaniment, churches, weddings, recording and solo recitals.
Currently I play with Central Florida Winds and Central Florida Chamber Winds.
When not playing I work as Executive Director of the Brevard Symphony Youth Orchestra. My present home is in Indialantic, where I live with my 14-month-old daughter, Hannah.
